SFBT Practice Clinic

A live, practice-focused SFBT training clinic where therapists deliver real sessions, observe peers, and give feedback in an egalitarian, no-recording environment. Includes volunteers receiving free sessions.

Introducing a New Way to Practice SFBT

I am launching a highly practice-focused training clinic inspired by the original behind-the-scenes approach that shaped Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. This model brings practitioners together to observe, deliver sessions and share feedback in real time—just like the collaborative spirit that defined SFBT’s development.

My best hope is that this space facilitates meaningful discussions and helps SFBT workers discover and refine their own unique style.

How do I sign up?

Sign ups are currently open. You can access the sign up form here. Anticipated date for the first session is in the first week of March.

Who is it for?

This training is ideal for therapists and other professionals who want to deepen their mastery of SFBT through live practice and collaborative feedback.

How does it work?

The clinic runs for 3 hours and 30 minutes and includes two live sessions with feedback periods:

  • 15 minutes: Introduction

  • 45 minutes: Live session #1

  • 30 minutes: Feedback on session #1

  • 10 minutes: Break

  • 45 minutes: Live session #2

  • 30 minutes: Feedback on session #2

  • 15 minutes: Closing and wrap-up

Who will be involved?

There are three roles in the clinic:

  • Workers: deliver a 45-minute live SFBT session

  • Observers: watch the session with cameras off, then provide feedback

  • Volunteers: receive a free SFBT session in exchange for participating

The volunteers for our first meeting are therapists in my professional network. They stated they would like to be involved in the feedback session.

What makes this unique?

  • No recordings allowed

  • Egalitarian feedback—everyone is invited to share observations

  • Flexible practice focus: workers choose which SFBT skills to emphasize (e.g., scaling, exceptions)

  • Free for now—this is a pilot model

When and where?

This is conducted via Zoom. For dates and times, please see the sign up form here.

How often is this offered?

I am hoping to have this practice lab 4 times a year. However, this March will be a pilot run to assess the interest and feasability.
